braces..

Just got them on today. Light blue bands. They hurt a lot. All I've eaten so far is a cup of yogurt. This post is mostly for Allen who wanted to see them!

PSATs

I took the PSATs today and I believe that it was horrible. I couldn't concentrate at all during it because there was like ten people sniffling, squeaky desks and chairs, and it was impossible for me to sit still. I probably did really bad on it, but it is only the PSATs. I'm probably going to end up taking the ACTs anyways. 

I don't really have anything else to say, but I'm going to the city again on Sunday for some more Chinatown shopping!

Jonas Brothers Concert

I'm not really a big Jonas fan, but a concert is a concert. I do actually like a couple of their songs. It was not a bad concert at all. However, there are so many overly obsessed fans that it is crazy. I saw at least 20 girls wearing a t-shirt they created themselves that said, "Marry me (insert one of the Jonas here)." There was also this family where the dad and mom also wore shirts. The dad had a shirt that said "Nick's future father in-law." One of the daughters had a shirt that said "Nick's future wife." I was totally shocked that a dad would actually wear a shirt that said that to the concert. 

The concert started at 9 and ended a little bit before 11. I believe almost everyone there knew every single lyrics to every single song. It was impossible to hear yourself thinking. 

The tickets that I had were actually pretty close to the stage. 

DBQ

Since when did essays become necessary in history classes? Seriously, thematic essays and DBQs? I can understand the document based questions that we have to answer in the DBQs, but why do we need to write an essay about things that the documents are telling us? It does not make sense. (For those who don't know what DBQs are: they are a document based question essay. You are usually given 8 documents and you have to answers 1 or 2 questions on each one. Then you are given a essay question that you have to answer and you can only use the documents as a support for your own ideas) pointless right?

We have English class for a reason. And that is to learn how to work on our writing skills. We do not need to do it in history class also. 

Ughh.. I'm still sick. I probably didn't get any better since Friday, but it's because I hate taking medicine. I cannot swallow anything bigger than a Tylenol and I cannot take cherry tasting medicine cause I throw right up. (gross right)

New York City

I'm part of the New York City club at my school and tomorrow we get to go to SOHO and Chinatown. It's going to be pretty cool because we get to go off my ourselves for a while.
I haven't been to the city in such a long time. I forgot about all the people selling fake brand name jewelry and bags for such a cheap price. 
We had really, really good pizza in Little Italy and amazing gelato!
All the cheap and fake stuff that people were selling reminded me of Taiwan and how they start at a really high price and you could probably get it for $5. 

I do not remember what was going on, but this is what goes on in Taiwan.

orthodontist

I had an orthodontist appointment today and I was expecting that they would tell me they were going to put on the braces now. However, apparently I need to wait another 2 weeks so it would expand more. This process is taking forever! :[

I think I passed my math test today. It seemed pretty easy, but I would probably have ended up doing the wrong thing for each question. 

I cannot wait for this weekend. This week seemed like it has gone by so slowly. Tomorrow is finally FRIDAY!!!

procrastination.

Pre-calc test tomorrow and I haven't even started to study yet. It's about inequalities, absolute values, non-linear inequalities, fractional inequalities, division of polynomials, and partial fractions. The absolute values and division are all pretty easy; however, the other topics are harder for me. 

It was extremely cold today. I already want it to be summer. Cold weather irks me. 

It seems like everyone in school is sick. There is always multiple sneezes and coughs going around in every single class. My throat is pretty sore and I have a stuffy nose. 

I love my every other day schedule at school. Every other day I have intermediate art, ceramics, and a study hall. However, on the other days I have gym, engineering, and AP chem lab.

frustration.

People complain and make a big deal out of everything. It can be the most mundane thing ever and someone has to make it into something that it is not. Everything can be spun into a dramatic situation. 

I just came back from a dance class that goes on at my school and it is usually for people who are trying out for the school play. This year my school is doing Peter Pan. Everything from the flying and having a stage light that sparkles as Twinkerbell. I'm still deciding whether or not I want to do the play or not. I mean it takes up a lot of time and I'm already loaded done with schoolwork and the year just started. 

The PSATs are coming up at my school and if I want to have a chance to get a merit scholarship, then I have to do well on it. However, I'm just going to try my best and believe that I can get a high score. [Allen's advice]

I have currently been listening to the Kings of Leon and Mat Kearney. Revelry by Kings of Leon is amazing and extremely addicting to listen to.  Mat Kearney's Breath In Breath Out is really good too.

I have a list of TV shows that I have to catch up on. I DVR(ed) so many shows for this week. Glee, Greek, One Tree Hill, Lincoln Heights, 90210, Melrose Place, Eastwick, and there are probably other ones that I forgot. I'm not into all of these shows, but it is still the beginning of each season so I'm giving each show a chance. Towards the middle of the season I would probably only be watched 2 or 3 of these shows. 

Any suggestions for other TV shows? songs? bands? artists?

three day weekend

Thanks for jewish holidays!
Instead of a Monday spent in school, I was able to enjoy the nice New York weather. Well at least the nice afternoon weather, before it started to pour.
I left my moccasins outside so they could dry; however, I forgot about them and they were left outside in the pouring rain. Now I have even more soaked moccasins.
I feel that the only thing I did today was eat. I had garden catering, then pizza, then chinese food. About three meals in about 6 hours. I do not know how I ate that much, but I did. Other then eating, I enjoyed a nice day at the harbor and just riding around in the car. It was a nice and relaxing day, much better than school. Sucks for people who still had school today.

This is directed towards baby butt hands- He told me that he was going to eat my brains out today. I told him that it was awkward; however, he denies that and says it is an extremely normal statement. Also, shush you means to be quiet. I do not get how you do not understand what that means. It is an everyday expression. Also, stop butt calling me!! Your butt calls always come at the worst times ever! It always happens when a teacher walks past me and the vibrate of my phone is pretty loud. Your calls also makes me think it is an emergency call. You know you don't hate me because I do not understand you or the "encrypted" messages that you leave me.
I always thought that all public schools have the same days off. I mean each school is diverse and has to be fair to all races and religions right? So why do some public schools have this three day weekend while other schools do not?
I've been trying to memorize one of Hamlet's soliloquies for English. "To be or not to be that is the questions, whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune." That is all I know so far and it is needed on Monday. I still have a while, but I also have an essay for English that is due Wednesday and a calculus test on Thursday. Junior year is sucking so far.
I have an orthodontist appointment on Thursday also. I have had a palate expander for almost 4 weeks now. I was only suppose to have it in for 2 weeks and then braces for however long, but apparently I didn't get the key in the right hole so nothing expanded. The process of getting braces is horrible. My cheeks are scraped, my teeth hurt, and my tongue is pretty cut up.
I do not get why people want to get braces when they don't even need them. It is a painful process and I don't get why people want to go through the pain when they already have nice teeth.
The radio needs to play new songs. I have had the Kings of Leons', "Use Somebody", Miley Cyrus', "Party in the USA", Pink's, "Sober" stuck in my head for the longest time. When would radios stop overplaying songs that have the chance to be pretty decent?
That is all for tonight. But I just have to add about the whole grapes debate, both, green and purple, grapes are amazing. as long as they are seedless and sweet.

hello..

It is currently 12:01am and this is my first post. WOOHOO! haha
My name is Katie and I am a junior in high school. The year of SATs/ACTs and APs. Loads of fun.

There really isn't much to tell about myself:
1) I'm Chinese.
2) I enjoy almost all kinds of desserts. ice cream is amazing.
3) Spongebob Squarepants is pretty awesome. The original Pokemon were the best.
4) I like playing sports. i.e.- softball/baseball, soccer, and football.
5) I was a huge tomboy when I was younger- currently I still semi-am.
6) I can take criticism pretty well. I try learning from my mistakes.
7) Sweatpants and t-shirts are my comfort clothes.
8) Red mango, sticky pictures, and hot pot are a must for a OCAC reunion in Flushing.
9) I check facebook and my email at least once a day

Apparently everyone has a blog or twitters now. So I decided to give it a try.
